Christmas Calenders

In D.T and R.E we made Christmas Calenders. Some pupils did Christmas trees, snowman and others chose presents.
We got to use coloured glitter, thick felt and some card.
On the Christmas tree we made the star popping up and the balls were flat, on the present we got to choose where we wanted the glitter and on the snowman some of the hats were popped up.
The mini calender was 2cm on top of the card near the bottom.

Here is how we made them.

1. We got a piece of card.

The puppet show

Year 3,2,1 and nursery where watching a puppet show. The puppet show was called the selfish giant.
Some people thought this bit in the puppet show was scary.
But I thought it was not scary at all. My favourite
characters were these three children. Because
at the beginning they were so funny.
The man you made the selfish giants was

Oscar. He`s dead now.
The characters are Mr giant, Billy
Rosy, Daisy, North Wind,
Mrs Snow, Mr Frost and Lord Wind. I
think it`s called Lord Wind.

Bonfire night

This week as you now it was Bonfire night on Thursday.
Year 3 wrote a poem about Bonfire night.
Here is one of them, written by Swastika.

Remember Remember,
The 5th of November when Guy Fawkes tried to blow the king.
The kings name was king James
and he lived in Parliament,
Guy Fawkes and his friends wanted
to blow up the king.
He took 36 gunpowder barrels and hid
it under the Parliament,
He wanted him dead because he was a horrible king,
At the end Guy Fawkes was caught
and torchered.
Bonfire day Bonfire day
lots of rays of fireworks ,
The colours are bright in rows of
Blooming magenta,
hot pink and flaming colours in the jet black sparkling sky.
There sounds are

Science lab

This week is science week. bit
So 3D did something to do with science.
They did a description about a science lab.
This is one of the description in class 3D.
Slowly as I walked past I saw a shadow.
Then I went closer and closer.
But there was a code but I did not know what the code was.
I really wanted to go in there.
I saw a window open then I climbed into the window.
Then I saw it was a science lab.
Then nervously I heard a strange sound it was bubbling even sizzling sound.
It was a creepy and weird then I stared for a bit.
Then I thought back when I first crept in the science lab it said DO NOT OPEN!
I was scared and I wanted to go home.
My Mum might be worried because I`m was gone.
In the science lab I could see poitions and a smoke alarm.
Then I could see that they were put acid in one of the poitions.
They were using a test tube and a magnefiglass.

this week in literacy 3D have been listling to the story Theseus and the Minotaur.
After we listened to Theseus and the Minotaur we did a description of the setting the charaters
and the main events of the myth. I enjoyed it. I also think the class enjoyed it.
my favourite bit was when Theseus ripped of the Minotaur`s head. In the other version
Theseus stabbed the Minotaur. The Minotaur lives in a dark foggey dank maze.
By Rajan Nandrha

Theseus and the Minotaur

This week we have read another book about myths and legends, the book is called Theseus and
the Minotaur. In the book there is a maze that is called the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth is the home of a monster called the Minotaur. The Minotaur is
half man half bull. We learnt that that the Minotaur eat
seven young men and seven young women each year.

Then in literacy we had to describe the Labyrinth
and we found out that the maze is not made out
of hedges it is made out of hedges it is made out of
cold stone.

Myths and legends are not true, they are told in
loads of different ways.

Magnets

This week in science year 3 have been learning about magnets.
Miss Willers said to us that she wanted to put a picture on her fridge with her fridge magnet but it would not attract to the fridge.
But Miss Willers asks her friend she said you have to get a bigger magnet but Miss Willers did not want to spend her money.
So she asked us to do an experiment on it.
So we had a big magnet, a medium magnet,a small magnet.
Then we got some paper clips and put them together the result for the big magnet was 164.
The result for the medium magnet was 65.
The result for the small magnet was 44.

Harvest time!

This week in 3f we have been working on a pumpkin poem. We wrote it on paper and when we finished we learnt that every line starts with a capatail letter. For example:

One day I found some pumpkin seeds
I planted one and pulled the weeds.

The reason we have been working on this is because its harvest time.
Harvest time is all about giving and sharing food. By 3f

Pumpkin Poems

This week year 3 have been working on Pumpkin Poems they had a lot of fun.
What they did is they got some paper and write the poem up.
Then they coloured it in .
Then Mr Molloy took some children out and practised it.
On Friday the children acted the Pumpkin Poem out in good works.
It was very good.
This is it.

One day I found some pumpkin seeds,
I planted one and pulled the weeds.
It sprouted roots and a big long vine.
A pumpkin grew I called it mine.
The pumpkin was quiet round and fat.
I'm really quiet proud of that!
But there is something that I ll admit
that has me worried just a bit.
I ate the other seed you see
now will it grow inside of me?
[I'm so relieved since I have found
that pumpkins only grow in the ground]

Number Lines

This week 3D have been using number lines for two reasons, one to practice making lines strait with rulers, and secondly for learning. I don`t think everyone like the lessons. But I enjoyed it.There was ten questions.
To day on Friday 25Th September 2009 I finished them all.
We also needed to do the inverse to check our answers out.
It was very very
very loud lesson.

Year 3 Portraits

In 3F we have been making portraits of our friends. In portraits of people you need all the detail
that you can see so it looks real. When proper artists do portraits they always take hours, days,
weeks and months.
Say if you started with the eyes start from the outside of the eyes and then work to the inside.
Don't forget to do the markings.

London Zoo

One bright sunny morning, on the 18th of June 3D and 3F set off for a school trip to London zoo!

3D and 3F were so board on the way to London zoo in the coach it was very tiring so I fell asleep.

Finally we arrived at London zoo I was so excited. First we saw the monkey after seeing the fluffy monkeys we saw a really furry huge bird but luckily it was in a cage.

My favourite part was when we saw the reptiles, all of the slithery, slimy, long and most scary snacks frightened me out!

We didn’t get to go to see all of the animals but the trip was quite fun and enjoy able and I did have a wonderful time .
I really want to see and go to another zoo or another school trip to a fun and enjoy place like London zoo.

Redbridge Museum (3F)

At the Redbridge Museum 3f were learning about world war 2.

First of all we all sat down, watched and listened to a lady at the museum. Then after a while we all split up into 2 groups. One group went upstairs to the actull museum and the rest stayed where they were. I went to the museum and got a clip board. We used the clipboards to answer some questions and we got the answers from the information all around us. My friend Luxa had a camera and we took some pictures.

Then after a while we went on to the next bit of work and answered the next bit of questions.Consequently we went to the final end of the test. Next the 2 groups swoped around. Upstairs me and the rest of the group looked at some things. First we sat down and looked at rationed food they did't have many stuff to eat in those times. Afterwards we looked at some of the clothes they took to the CountrySide, my friend Luxa took some more pictures.

Then finally we looked at the Anderson Shelter it looked very poor.

Redbridge Museum (3D)

On the 12th June year 3 drove on a school-trip to Redbridge Museum to find out information on World War II.

First 3D had to to go to Redbridge Museum and in the afternoon the other class, 3F, had to go.

First 3D got ready then we set off. Before we could go, the coach broke-down and the engine was not working. So we had to wait a little while. Then the coach was working, so we set off. It took approximately took 20 minutes to get their.

When we arrived at the Redbridge Museum we had to walk up one set of stairs, then we went into a lovely room.

Next we saw a lovely lady called Susan. She looked quite polite. Susan asked us if we knew how many countries were involved in World War II and lots of questions. It was really fun.

There was a shelter and it was called an Anderson Shelter. Inside the Anderson Shelter all of the metal was all rusty and crusty and looked very old. The Anderson Shelter was quite small and only about 2 people could fit in it.

In the museum we went to an upper-part and we got clip-boards and we had to fill in all the answers from what we knew and what Susan had told us. It was quite fun.

I felt a bit sad because all of the soldiers had to fight and sacrifice their lives just to save us and it must of been so hard to live because you had to wear a gas-mask and rationing was going on.

teeth

we are starting a new topic on teeth.

Your teeth is extremely inportant,we need our teeth to eat, talk and smile.

Brush your teeth well twice a day (after breakfast and last thing before going to bed).

Use a small toothbrush with soft bristles. Hard and medium bristled toothbrushes can damage teeth and gums.

Use fluoride (say flu-or-ide) toothpaste. From 6 years of age you can use adult toothpaste, but make sure you spit it out when you have finished cleaning your teeth. Children under 6 need to use a special children's toothpaste.

Gently and thoroughly brush each side of every tooth and the gums. It should take about 3 minutes to do them all.

Dental floss cleans between your teeth but should only be used if you have been shown how to floss at the dentist.

Once a week you could check your toothbrushing skills by rinsing with a liquid called Disclo-gel. This is a pink liquid that stains the plaque pink and makes it easier to see. Disclo-gel can be bought from a chemist. If your teeth are not totally clean, there will be a pink stain on a tooth. Brush that stain off and remember how you did it, so that you can add that to how you clean your teeth.

Leon and Bob

In year 3 we have been working on a book called Leon and Bob.

In this story Leon has friend but no-one could see him. They do every thing with each other.

Every time he gets home he will find a LETTER FROM DAD.

the rest is for you to find out.........................

China week

During China Week, we have been writing zodiac stories. The best part was making the costumes and masks for the story which we made out of card and our brilliant art skills. After auditioning for the parts, we rehearsed the play. We then acted out the story while Mr Molloy filmed us on the school camcorder. If you went to the china week exhibition, you would of saw the film playing on the screen.
Another fun part of China Week was the making our own calligraphy and posters.
olso we have been making flowers for our Chines vers wich looks abit like snowflaks.
