Bread Tasting

On Wednesday year 3 did bread tasting. We tasted all sorts of bread.

First we tasted sliced white bread. Most people liked it, only some people didn't really liked. It tasted rather plain.

Next we tasted wholemeal bread(brown bread).Everyone really liked that bread. It tasted a bit sweet.
After that we tasted Seeded Granary . It had lots of seeds in it including the crust!. Not many people liked it at all. In year 3 not much people like bread with seeds in it.

Later we tasted Tortilla Wrap. Everyone definitely loved this. It tasted really really nice. We really liked it.
Next we tasted White pitta. It was quite thick and chewy. About 3 quarters of year 3 liked it, Some people simply did just not like it.
Then we tasted Brown Pitta. It tasted the same as White Pitta except it had a tiny bit more taste. A bit of us liked the taste of it.
Last of all we tasted Fruit Loaf. It tasted very very sweet. Hardly any of us liked it. Loads of people did not like it at all. Thank you for reading our Blog.

World Cup Trophies

A few weeks ago in year 3 we designed some World Cup trophies in our sketch books. We had to think very carefully about what we were doing because we had to make sure that they would be able to stand up on their own because we were going to make them out of clay.

About 2 weeks ago we made our trophies out of clay. It was quite hard because we had to make sure they were smooth and it could stand up on its own.

In Arts week when our trophies were dry we had to paint them. We could pain them in Gold Silver or Bronze. We all enjoyed painting them and they turned out to be very good.

Mr Fraser was impressed with all of them. We showed them in good works assembly everyone was impressed and really liked them.

Teeth & bones

This week we've been learning about teeth & bones.

This is Emma's work:

INTRODUCTION
People use their teeth to bite & chew food.
They also help us to say certain sounds.
People have 2 sets of teeth in the mouth.

PRIMARY TEETH
Most babies are born with no teeth showing.
The 20 teeth erupt during the time from 6
months of age to 2 years old.

PERMNENT TEETH
When primary teeth fall out 2 are replaced
by 32 permanent teeth (also called adult teeth.)
During the time 6 to 14 years old. As 2 permanent
teeth forms under the gum & in the jaw bone the roots
of the primary tooth is replacing disolve.
The primary tooth becomes loose and falls out.
The permanent-tooth will fill the space.

Gregory cool paintings

On Wednesday 3F were focusing on a picture from the book Gregory cool. We described it and had a go at painting it with some watercolour paints. We drew our pictures very lightly with a pencil before we actually painted them so we knew where to paint when we painted them. We had to think about the colours we used because the picture was from the night and we couldn't use too bright colours.

It took us a very long time because we had to concentrate and put alot of effort into our pictures. We have all worked really hard and we have nearly finished them. Here are some of our work. We hope you like our work!

He also has a cousin in Tobago called Lennox. He does not like it very much in Tobago because he is not used to the country. The house that Gregory's grandparents live in is vey small and Gregory doesn't like it very much.
The house didn't even have a proper door! Gregorys room in the story doesn't even have any toys, books or any carpet! Eventually in the story Gregory gets used to the country and starts to like Tobago.

In year 3 in art we have been looking at Victorian lettering. We had a go at writing our names in Victorian letters. We looked at some on the internet and in some booklets. We all tried our best at copying some letters. We had to be creative and gentle. Mrs dhadwal picked her 5 favourite pieces of work. The people who were chosen were Lorina,Yasin,Chloe,Adilah and Ashley. We havent all finished yet. Mrs Dhadwal showed us an example of her old year 3 class. When we coloured our letters in we had to use very bright colours. We were told not to use dark colours or it would spoil our design. We had to use colours that go together.

In Literacy we have been learning about weather reports. We watched some weather reports and weather forecasts and had a go at writing are own weather reports. We had to use phrases and words that are said on weather forecasts on tv.

This week we have learned about St. George the true story. We are going to show some lovely pictures and some stories.

This is one of the stories written by Rajan:
George's dad was in the Roman army & when George's dad died George joined the army.
George was so good in the army that he went to Nicomedia to protect the emperor.
The emperor wasn't kind at all. He told George to kill all the christians. But George refused. So the emperor killed George.

Because George was so brave people wore the red cross to remember him.

King Edward the 3rd said we shall call George St. George. They made a church named after him. The Queen still uses it today.

In school it is so fun, my best subjects are: Art, Maths, Literacy and Science. My teacher is Mrs Dhadwal, she is kind and pretty, even though she sometimes shouts but I still think she is the best teacher ever. I hope I might meet you one day. Goodbye.

mothers day poems

Mothers day cards.

In year 3 we have been making mother day cards because they have been working really hard for us. Here are some instructions how to make a mother's day cards.
1. Fold the paper in half so you have a nice sharp crease.
2. If you got a template of m and u, cut the m and u nicely.
3. Then we get a piece of coloured paper and trace it on there so we have a bubble writed M and U.
4. Get a crowned coloured piece of paper and stick it on a edge.
5. Make a jacobs ladder.
6. How you make a jacobs ladder you get a glue stick and stick a paper strip then keep folding each one, but you need to have 3 pairs of 2.
7. You choose a coloured of 2 ms and 1 u and stick it on to the jacobs ladder and stick that on to the mothersday card. And there you go its finished.

We had to colour all of it and no blank bits on the paper. We got a book that was stapled together and with the person next to use we had to choose our favourite bit. It was quite
important that you done it at the bottom of the page because we had to illustrate the rest of the page it was quite hard anyway but we atleast had fun.

Anne Frank diaries

This week we have continued learning about Anne Frank like we mentioned in the descriptions. On Anne's 13th birthday she received a diary and named it Kitty, so we have written diaries in the role of Anne Frank. Here is one written by Kulvinder in 3D.

Monday 19th July 1942
Dear Kitty,

I get very frustrated every hour and minute because I can't do anything and I can not even peek out of the window just to see what it is like to be out and about instead of being couped up inside this hiding place.

At breakfast I kept on spinning my spoon around and around my cereal bowl. Just sitting there being absolutely bored was rubbish. I would rather be outside but I can't because bombs were in mid air.

I feel that I need to do something but the only thing is I can't talk or walk even Margot couldn't do the same as me. I hate doing nothing and I feel really anxious about doing nothing.

Sitting here for 8 hours is bang out of order. My fingers are burning red. Finally the people had went then we could do anything.

Here is another one written by Emma.

Friday 13th February 1942
Dearest Kitty,

I've had the dreadful day today, my hands are still shaking at the tip of my fingers are burning like mad and my legs feel like they're going to crack open. I'm tired of sitting around all day just like a statue! Sometimes I quietly stand up and sneak my diary ( It's better then nothing) it's so hard to write when the pencil makes such an annoying noise!

I am hearing noises downstairs. I think 1 of them was a sound of an engine whirling. I am very uncomfortable. I was going to bounce up and down, to make it better but the workers might here me. It`s so boring here, I keep staring at Peter if he will stare back with the same enthusiastic smile, but he just looks at me and goes back to what he's doing, then he looks right and stares at Margot with a cheerful grin. I feel a little jealous when he does that!

Ugh! I can see hundreds of Jews being pushed to the death trap. I know they're Jews because they're wearing a star, if I was wearing a star I just hate it not just because you can't go to the cinema and swimming pool, but I am going to be a total joke!!!

Grr! My tummy is rumbling, I'm starving, I can't eat anything in the day, it's so unfair only in the night I fill myself so it will last tomorrow!!!

We hope you enjoyed those!

Anne Frank

This week in year 3 we have been learning about Anne Frank, this is some information.

The live of ANNE Frank.

Anne Frank wanted to be a journalist and then be a famous writer. She lived in Germany but she had been sent to Holland, in Amsterdam and she had a house there and it had an attic in her roof and hid in there with her family. After that they had been found and they had been sent to castrating camp. And her sister and mum died and they died at the age of 15 and 18 and her dad survived.

Here is another book!!!!
Anne Frank was a girl born in 1926 and her sister was 3 years older then her, her bigger sister was called Margot. One day the Frank family moved to Amsterdam, fancy things and Anne Franks birthday when she was 13 she got a presents and her favourite present was a diary she named it "Kitty" and she wrote in her diary everyday. She was very jealous of her sister because she had fancy things and she always had a little something more then Anne Frank her little sister.

Anne D

Anne frank

Anne Frank

This week yr 3 have been learning about Anne Frank which is linked into our History topic and our Literacy topic. As you know our History topic it is World War II and Literacy is writing we had mixed it together. Here is one written by Jamima.

Anne Frank was born at 1929 and She had a sister called Margot. Margot was born in 1926, she was 3 years older than Anne. Anne always wanted to be like her sister.Anne`s dreams were to be a journalist because she loved to write. When the war started the houses got bombed and a Synagogue got burnt down. Anne and her family moved to Holland because it was too dangerous.
Anne and her family learned how to speak Dutch in Holland

Here is another one written by Emma.

Anne Frank lived in World War II.She lived with her father, mother and sister called Margot. Anne Frank wanted to be a famous journalist. So she kept a diary called Kitty, Kitty was Anne`s best friend, she kept all the things that had happened in World War II.

In 1939 Anne and her family moved to Amsterdam, it was a very happy place for Anne and her family until Germans came to invade Holland. So the Frank family hid, they hid in a tall factory, at the top there was a small bookcase, that was their hiding place, it was a very good hiding hiding place, they managed to hide for 2 years, until some one betrayed them.

They had been taken to concentration camp in Germany, it was very horrible, finally Anne died by exhaustion at the age of 15.

Now Otto (her dad) was the only Frank member left. Otto found Anne's diary "Kitty", it was very interesting so he made it in too a book, the book was so good it was spread word wide.

Here is the only existing footage of Anne Frank, we hope you enjoy!

Canfield Chapel trip

This Yr our 1st trip is to Canfield Chapel where we met a few ladies. The ladies were true eye witnesses of World War II, Some of them were evacuated so that really helped us in our history topic. When we came back from the trip we wrote thank you letters to them. So here is 1 of our thank you letters to the ladies of Canfield Chapel by Junaid.

Dear Ladies,
thank you so much it was really exciting when you told us all about your stories when you were young and you got evacuated. It was relly fun listening, now I know much better about the destruction of the World War II. My brain has a little tingling feeling that makes it feel like a MASSIVE EXPLOTION!

The part was about the Doom bugs, I loved that part, it was wicked awesome, the engine ran out then it fell but it actually was a bomb, BOOM! That mut have scared you out of your shoes then out of your socks! That was really sad. The part when your dad died was really sad as well.

Thanks again for all the marvelous stories, it was so nice of you to let us into your Chapel. Thank you so much. I enjoyed being with you, you are so nice for letting us listen to your wonderful stories about you when you were such a small child.

It was really sad when you only had your rationing books, it's because of those horrible Germans that had attacked the ships with all the precious food inside the deck. Sorry about that if i brought back some bad and gruesome memories from when you were evacuated. I hope i didn't bring any of them back.

by Dawood and Annabelle.

Goodnight Mister Tom

This week year 3D have been writing letters in the role of William to Mister Tom when William is in the city with his Mum so here is a letter written by Jamila.

Dear Mister Tom,

How are you? Hope your not lonely. Is the house quiet without me around? The
house feels strange. I really miss you Mister Tom. If you were here you could have seen the terrible weather, drizzling rain falling from the sky. One day it's raining and another it's sunny. You never know, it might be both at the same time!

The house feels strange. Mum's calmed down and she's not angry or thinking
about slapping me with a belt. There is still one more problem, my problem is
that Mum's got a baby and all she does is to cry and cry and cry. That's not the worst part, I have to change her nappy all the time.

Mister Tom I wish you could be here with me all the time. I miss you so much, and can I tell you something you are the best man in the whole world. Wish you could be here.

Lots of love

World War 2

This week in year 3 we have been learning about World War 2.We saw this movie called Good night Mr tom, and it was placed in the 1940s and it was in the World War 2 and if we was being invacurated we would write a letter to our mum, and here is a letter from our class.

Dear mum
How are you,I hope you are well and there have not been to many air raids

I'm having so much fun at Mr toms house. He is very kind and he takes care of me very well.He is very good at making things.I've met a friend called Zack and he is my best friend. He is very kind and he is a good friend.I was scared at first because he looked very scary but now I'm used to him.The countryside is a wonderful place. It is fresh and clean, there is a big school in country side and it is very fun.

Goodnight Mister Tom

Goodnight Mister Tom is a story based on World War II that year 3 in Glade Primary School has been working on. A boy called William Beech has been evacuated from London to the country-side and is living with a man called Mister Thomas Oakley, he is a very grumpy old man who has a good attitude, he really cares about William Beech and makes him the best boy you could ever imagine. William Beech is a very sensible boy, he has learnt a lot by his personal trust worthy adult Mister. Tom. William has learned how to read and write just because of one tiny little thing, Mister Tom! William has a friend called Zachariah but everybody just calls him Zac. William has a violent mother and a mother who moans and smacks William a lot.

In the story Zac is asked to go to the East End with his father as he has died and Zac got bombed and died. William is settling in very well in the country with the people there with him, especially Zac so William is feeling very emotional. Here are some of the things that William drew,
Dog, Eagle, Angel, House & setting, Birthday Party, Church, Mr Tom, William's Room and Grave yard.

So we have put on the next few minutes of Goodnight Mr Tom for you, so enjoy and have fun watching the film!
